Compare and Contrast II

The last time I made a Compare and Contrast blog I got a lot of amazing feedback from it. Even though it’s been quite awhile since I’ve made one, I’m here to break that streak! ha. The premise of these posts are to simply compare and contrast the work of two photographers. This is the part that fascinates me, as the contrast is so drastically different even though the two practice the same exact craft.  My favorite part is that each photographer is able to instill a bit of their own personality into each and every capture. Although it doesn’t stop there, the photographer has even more creative freedom after the fact when post (editing) begins.

This Compare and Contrast Part II blog compares the work of a really good, old friend of mine, Christian Arévalo and mine. Now, Christian is a wedding photographer so that already makes his style worlds apart from mine. However, he does dabble in portraiture and let me tell you, his stuff is damn good. His perspective is so different from a lot of photographers work and that’s one of the things I love about his so much. From angles and specifically crops, he always comes up with something unique and different. Dont just take my word for it, check out how our images compare and contrast between each others. The images on the left are edits made by me, the edits on the right were made by Christian Arévalo.

My edit is at the top and Christian Arévalo‘s is at the bottom.

Below are some photos that Christian took during his shoot with a client. To the right are my edits from this shoot. He has a strong love for black and white, and I’d be lying if I said that hasn’t rubbed off on me… a lot. I stuck to my normal edits for these, however I have found myself shooting almost everything in black and white lately thanks to him haha.
